THE ROLE
Job Purpose
Salary: £25,107 – £35,256 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
We are looking for a Social Media Coordinator to join BBC Scotland Business Operations on an initial six month contract to support engagement with our teams in Scotland and pan-Nations and to promote our staff, facilities and services internally and externally. BBC Scotland delivers local, regional and national services each day on TV, Radio and Online to audiences across Scotland and the UK as a whole. We are responsible for the delivery of content such as Disclosure, Questions Time, The Weakest Link, Scam Interceptors, River City, Mrs Brown’s Boys, Bridge of Lies, Points of View and the Sky At Night. We are looking for someone with experience creating and administering content on all social media platforms, such as Facebook, Instagram and X, to build an audience and ensure client engagement with existing clients and to reach new ones.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The role helps support the creation and delivery of a marketing and social media strategy, maximising engaged reach with our target audiences, delivering content of the highest creative quality, and driving engagement with BBC Scotland Business Operations.
- provide planning and idea generation for social media content and promotion of services
- facilitate regular internal comms updating colleagues and clients on business i.e. Newsletter
- contribute to the design and maintenance of BBCS Bus Ops website
- Working with Unit Managers, Operations Technical and Graphics Teams, to help design and create technical specification documents and similar supporting, promotional and marketing materials
- remain current in trends and development and competitor activity
- develop creative approaches to curating social media content
- producer digital assets that can be used across social media platforms, using relevant audio. Video hardware, native social platform tools and relevant multimedia software (such as Adobe CS)
- produce copy that is optimised for social media platforms and formats in line with accounts approved style guide and tone of voice
- support Operations Execs in managing the marketing strategy for Business Operations
- ensure all content supports the account’s brand values and is consistent with editorial style and tone
- moderate conversations with audiences and escalate issues to the Operations Exec
- work with stakeholders to develop appropriate responses to all comments
- work collaboratively with all stakeholders as required to ensure timely release of information
- contribute to regular reviews with colleagues to understand impact of strategy
- monitor performance of social media platforms
- ensure all social activity is correctly complied (as per BBC Brand and Bus Ops guidelines) and is in line with BBC Editorial Guidelines
- escalate any compliance issues as appropriate
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
Our ideal candidate will have demonstrable knowledge of BBC output, strong editorial and communication skills with the ability to convey creative ideas clearly and in a timely manner ensuring marketing and promotional opportunities are maximised. The ideal candidate will have experience creating content for and managing social media channels.
