Birmingham City University is a large and diverse place to study right in the heart of the vibrant city. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Student Lifecycle to join our dynamic team in Delivery Services and within the Directorate of Student and Academic Services. The Directorate is responsible for ensuring that students have an excellent experience and provides services across the student and academic lifecycle from enrolment to graduation, covering everything from wellbeing services to ensuring new courses are set up correctly. This role will suit an experienced HE leader/manager who has a broad range of experience in successfully delivering elements of the student lifecycle such as enrolment, fees and funding, exams, awards/verifications and graduation ceremonies and is highly customer focussed.
You will manage two teams (Fees and Funding and Student Lifecycle) and be responsible for the overall leadership of 17 staff. This includes two managers and 5 team leaders to support the effective delivery of all services within your portfolio. You will oversee and deliver high profile services that underpin the student lifecycle and are critical services within the University. In the Student Lifecycle team you are responsible for Enrolment, Examinations (assessments), Awards and Verifications, and Graduation Ceremonies. In Fees and Funding you are responsible for all activity relating to the Student Loans Company and other relevant funding bodies. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the key outputs and services within your remit.
You will be educated to a degree level or equivalent, have extensive experience in the use of a corporate student record system, in particular SITS:Vision, and have knowledge and understanding of current issues in Higher Education. You will have experience in leading and motivating a team, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to a client-centred approach to service delivery.
In return for your hard work and dedication, we offer a generous pension and annual leave provision (40 days including statutory holidays), family-friendly policies and state-of-the-art campus facilities. We also operate a hybrid working model that allows staff to combine on-site and remote working where appropriate, dependent on work duties.
